The Health and Labor Risks Superintendence (Sisalril) will update the Basic Health Plan, a document that has not been changed since 2007. Fees paid for patient services will be revised upwards. Many doctors and clinics have compensated for the low fees received by charging patients extra.
The announcement was made yesterday, Wednesday 8 April 2015 by the newly appointed Superintendent of Sisalril, Pedro Luis Castellanos, who spoke to reporters after holding a meeting with the representatives of the 22 health providers (ARS).
Castellanos stated: “What we want is a balancing factor” in the health system, and to contribute to “all of the sectors fulfilling their responsibilities as defined by the law.” He added that one of the challenges is the fact that 30% of the population is not included in the Basic Health Plan.
