Jobs needed for young people

Ministry of the Presidency economist Juan Ariel Jimenez recently revealed that 395,339 young people between the ages of 15 and 30 are unemployed. He said that 55% of the country’s unemployed population is in the 15-30 age bracket.

He said that approximately 221,264 high school graduates are out of work, which suggests that the formal education system is not providing young people with the skills they need for finding work.

He added that an estimated 254,949 young people between the ages of 15 and 30 are neither working nor studying (the so-called ni-nis). He said that 19% of this group have university degrees but cannot find work.
