Two drug mules caught at Las Americas

The National Drug Control Agency has arrested a “mule” arriving from Colombia with a kilo of heroin in his stomach and more hidden in his underwear, and a woman who was traveling to Spain with two bottles with liquid cocaine camouflaged as rum.

The DNCD says that a 49-year old man arrived on an Avianca flight from Bogota and was met by security agents at AILA because of his profile as a high-risk passenger. He later expelled 82 bags of heroin at the Armed Forces Hospital, in addition to the 12 bags hidden in his underwear for 1.146 kilos in total.

The second mule was a 22-year old woman who was smuggling 581.35 grams of pure cocaine camouflaged in rum bottles, as confirmed by INACIF lab tests. She was planning to travel to Madrid on an Air Europa flight.
