Abinader looking for alliances

The new presidential candidate for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Luis Abinader, says that he has spoken to 95% of the key members of the opposition parties to explore the possibility of forming an alliance for the 2016 elections.

Abinader said that one of his advantages was that he had no enemies in any political party although he did have differences of opinion about the best ways to tackle the problems facing the country. He reiterated that he would work to unify the opposition under the umbrella of the Convergence Coalition without discriminating against any political organization.

Meanwhile, PRD presidential candidate Miguel Vargas said that his party was willing to join forces with all opposition parties and work towards maintaining its position as the party with the strongest structure in the whole country. He did not specify, however, whether he was open to working with the PRM and Luis Abinader.
