Dominican embassy in Washington in Around the World Embassy Tour

The Dominican Embassy in Washington, D.C. hosted over 6,200 visitors over the weekend of 2-3 May as part of the seventh “Around the World Embassy Tour”, a celebration that includes programs and international events throughout the US capital. The Around the World Embassy Tour is a signature event of Passport DC, and is described as an annual celebration of international culture that showcases embassies with artists and artisans, performers, lecturers, teachers, and others. More than 40 embassies from around the world took part this year.

The mission headquarters hosted “curious and interested members of the public who were able to learn about Dominican culture and natural attractions.” Listin Diario described the event as “a cultural pilgrimage.”

Visitors to the Dominican Embassy also had the opportunity to taste Brugal rum and Presidente beer as well as to dance merengue and taste traditional Dominican food in a restaurant opened especially for the occasion. They were also able to view a permanent exhibition on “Jewels of Taino Art” as well as a photographic display on “Identity and Magic: Folklore Dances of the Dominican Republic”.
