The Japanese Embassy in the Dominican Republic has announced 10 scholarships for young Dominicans between the ages of 18 to 30 to travel to Japan to attend an international youth exchange program from Tuesday, 22 September to Wednesday 7 October 2015. So far, 211 young Dominicans have taken part in the program that is now in its 13th year.
Japan will be sending 16 young people to the DR for a familiarization trip with Dominican culture and situation.
In the Dominican Republic, the program is coordinated with the Ministry of Youth.
The Dominicans will attend the program together with young people from Egypt, Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia and Latvia, who will also be taking part the same program in Japan.
The young people will deliver presentations on specific topics they will report on from their travels.
The announcement was made on Thursday, 7 May 2015 at the Ministry of Youth in the presence of Minister Jorge Minaya and Ambassador Takashi Fuchigami.
