Senate president Cristina Lizardo has convened senators for a meeting today, Tuesday, 26 May 2015 at 4pm to review the constitutional reform proposal. The meeting follows last night’s speech by former President Leonel Fernandez who expressed his opposition to changing the Constitution to allow President Danilo Medina to run for a second term. During his speech, Fernandez said he would accept the results of a National Referendum on the issue. The Senate sessions are usually held on Wednesday.
