Minority party politician ?Bacho? has gotten a welcome spurt of publicity after the company that printed the 5.6 million ballots in his name used Rafael, instead of Raul, as his first name. The ballot correctly indicates that ?Bacho?, the nickname under which Raul Perez Pena is running for the Partido Autentica Democracia party. Bacho has requested that his name on the ballots be changed ? and it?s not the first time. According to Bacho, they had used the name Jesus Raul Perez Pena in the proofs, which is his full name. But, he requested that the name be changed to Raul Perez Pena. Instead, the ballots ended up incorrectly reading Rafael Perez Pena ?Bacho.?
While Bacho is a well known and respected TV personality and newspaper columnist, his voter appeal is deemed to be so low that the leading polls do not include him in their queries.
Despite the botched job, however, the PLD and PRSC do not agree with the reprinting of the ballots. Hoy newspaper reports that some JCE judges are concurring with them, agreeing with the opposition party delegates that the reprinting would cause delays in the logistics. The ballots were printed by Editora Corripio.
