Bepensa, the Mexican owner of the Coca Cola bottling company in the Dominican Republic has announced the start of manufacturing of their first line of canned soft drinks. Miguel Mendez, area director for the Coca Cola supply chain said the first line was a US$1 million investment in La Romana. It has capacity to produce 1,800 boxes of cans in the 12 and 8oz sizes. The slim can designs will be used for Coca Cola, Coca Cola Light, Coca Cola Zero, Sprite, Orange Fanta and Country Club. A national distribution warehouse has also been set up in La Romana.
Speaking for Bepensa in the press release, Fernando Ponce said this operation is the first if its kind for bottling companies in the DR.
