Drugs found in abandoned jeep

The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) has confiscated 40 pounds of drugs, thought to be marijuana, found in a jeep that was abandoned on a street in the city of San Juan de la Maguana.

DNCD spokesman, Dario Medrano, said that members of the army G2 intelligence force noticed that the vehicle was abandoned and took it to the Jose Maria Cabral and Luna army barracks where the Third Infantry Brigade are stationed. Then DNCD officials searched the jeep and found 17 packets of drugs that had been stashed under the seats.

According to the DNCD, the owners of the jeep had been bringing the drugs over from the Haitian border. The investigation is ongoing.
