For the first time in 35 years the III Farm and Tourist Fair of the North Region opened in Puerto Plata in an act headed by President Danilo Medina. The fair, which is dedicated to promote the enormous potential of the cities on the north coast both in farming and tourism, will continue through Sunday, 26 July 2015 at the Eugenio Maria de Hostos Park.
During the inaugural ceremony, Sixto Peralta, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Puerto Plata, stressed the need to update the road system linking Puerto Plata to Santiago, especially the expansion of the Navarrete-Puerto Plata highway as well as improving of the Gregorio Luperon Tourist Highway.
