The president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) Roberto Rosario reports that the National Foreigner Legalization Plan is costing the Dominican government more than RD$3 billion. Rosario described the plan as inclusive and comprehensive.
In his comments, Rosario also mentioned the Dominican Republic contributes to the welfare of Haitians by allowing them to pay for university studies the same as Dominicans. Foreigners of other nationalities are charged a hefty premium for their university studies here. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians also study for free in the Dominican public school system.
Rosario spoke at a conference on the National Foreigner Legalization Plan presented to law students of the Universidad Catolica de Santo Domingo.
