International bodies mute on Venezuelan deportations

As Venezuela carries out its mass deportations of Colombians, Dominicans find it strange that there is no international uproar. An editorial in Diario Libre on Saturday, 29 August 2015 says that Dominicans are asking where are the spokespersons for Caricom, the United Nations, the OAS and many non-governmental agencies, which have been mute in the case of Venezuela.

“Maduro says they all must go and the Colombians are picking up and leaving even taking their toilets with them,” writes the editorialist, who concludes by saying, “Santos looks, and nothing, because sovereignty comes first and afterwards come good relations.”
