PRD poll forecasts second round

The PRD has released a poll carried out by Ana Maria Acevedo, a leading party officer, whereby a second round would be necessary to decide on the nation?s next Presidency. Acting president of the PRD Culture Minister Tony Raful, Sports Minister Cesar Cedeno, former Agriculture Minister Eligio Jaquez, Interior & Police Minister Pedro Franco Badia and other PRD executives announced that the PLD?s Leonel Fernandez would receive 46.7% of the vote and that Hipolito Mejia would be the runner-up with 38.5% of the vote, followed by Eduardo Estrella of the PRSC with 12.7%. The Acevedo poll does not forecast the result of the second round.

Contrary to the findings of the PRD poll, Gallup, Penn Shoen and Hamilton Staff polls taken this year all show Leonel Fernandez and his PLD party winning in the first round with more than the necessary minimum of 50%. These same polls indicate that Fernandez would win with a landslide if a second round were necessary.
