This is a weekend to try to avoid being caught on the major highways. For Saturday, the PLD has announced the close of its campaign to take place Santiago, from where they will go to Sanchez Ramirez on Sunday. The PRSC will be active in the northeast (Samana, Sanchez and Nagua) over the weekend, as well as in Piedra Blanca, Maimon, Bonao, Fantino and Cotui. The PRD, meanwhile, has announced the closing of its campaign in Santiago on Sunday. President Hipolito Mejia will be in Puerto Plata today, as he travels north for the winding down of all electoral promotions. Next week will see the final activities in Santo Domingo, on 12, 13, and 14, the latter of which is the final day for campaigning, as the Electoral Law gives Dominicans two days to reflect on their choice in peace.
