Medics back to work at public hospitals

The president of the Dominican College of Medics (CMD), Waldo Ariel Suero, suspended the work stoppage of its affiliates at the public hospitals and social security hospitals nationwide. Public hospitals were operating yesterday afternoon normally, after the CMD called the week-long strike off. The physicians had abandoned their posts in demand for wage increases and better working conditions. Dr. Suero explained that the strike was lifted to ?facilitate a calm electoral process.? He said the suspension does not mean their efforts will be abandoned because they will continue after the 16 May, regardless of the election?s outcome.
