The PLD electoral committee has announced that they have hired two market research companies to measure the popularity levels of each municipal and congressional candidate but would not reveal the names of the firms for “political reasons”.
The committee called on the pre-candidates to accept the results of the internal election process once the decision is made following the outcome of polls or primaries and urged the Political Committee members to distance themselves from the process.
In a press conference held at the party headquarters yesterday, Monday 28 September 2015, Electoral Committee coordinator Lidio Cadet said that they were ready to hold primaries wherever it was deemed necessary but they were awaiting the Political Committee’s decision about the electoral alliances.
He added that there were 3,500 aspirants to the candidacies, of whom 1,580 were PLD members and that they would announce the names of the PLD liaison people in each province and municipality at 4 pm this Thursday, 1 October 2015.
