The tenth tropical storm of the 2015 Atlantic hurricane season has formed. Named Joaquin by the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the storm is currently located east of the Bahamas and although it does not pose a threat to the Dominican Republic, it may affect the east coast of the United States.
Forecasters say that Joaquin has wind speeds of 65 km per hour and is moving westwards at seven kilometers an hour. They expect it to reduce speed and turn to the west-northwest tonight, Wednesday 30 September 2015 and then reach the eastern coast of the United States at the weekend. The storm is also likely to strengthen over the next 48 hours with winds reaching out 110 kilometers from the center.
