Fernando Echavarria was mourned yesterday, Tuesday 13 October 2015 during funeral services at the Funeraria Blandino before being laid to rest at the Jardin Memorial. Family and friends exchanged anecdotes about his life and said farewell.
The singer of Maria Elena, De oro and El fiao was buried in the Jardin Memorial cemetery and his son, Fernando Andre described him as a serious but irreverent man with the heart of a rock singer.
Echavarria was born in Santo Domingo on 14 August 1953 and died on Saturday 10 October 2015 from a heart attack minutes before he was due to appear onstage.
Members of the Familia Andre gathered and sang Magdalena in his memory.
