The Chamber of Deputies has approved the 2016 budget at an amount of RD$663.59 billion as proposed by the Executive Branch.
The budget was approved by the Chamber of Deputies in consecutive sessions after more than two hours of debate. During the first session, 120 members voted in favor of the budget with 28 opposed. After the second session the votes were 121 in favor to 24 opposed.
The deputies of Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) voted against the bill with Nelson Arroyo calling it a catastrophe. Deputies Guadalupe Valdez and PLD-dissident Minou Tavarez Mirabal, of the Democratic Option also voted against it.
The budget that had already been approved last Wednesday by the Senate will now go back to the Executive Branch to be signed and enacted.
