The Santo Domingo Water and Sewage Corporation (CAASD) has announced that Av. Winston Churchill at the intersection with Porfirio Herrera street will be shut down as of this 8pm this evening, Thursday, 11 November 2015 in order to connect water and sewer pipes with their respective networks. The CAASD says that the shutdown is part of the construction of the “Real Intercontinental Hotel” on that corner in the Piantini neighborhood.
According to El Nuevo Diario, CAASD director Alejandro Montas called on the public to be patient despite the problems this will cause and promised that the works would be completed as soon as possible. He advised drivers to use alternative routes such as the Rafael Augusto Sanchez, the Padre Emiliano Tardif and the Victor Garrido Puello streets. Work is expected to conclude this weekend.
