Police getting ready for Black Friday

Police spokesman Maximo Baez Aybar says that the National Police will be increasing security in the country’s shopping malls for this year’s “Black Friday”, 27 November 2015.

The rationale behind the increase is that Black Friday has become the busiest shopping day of the year in the country and many people make major purchases.

Baez Aybar said that the police officers would be on patrol in the malls from early morning to provide any assistance necessary. In addition they would be increasing patrols in residential areas when people returned home with their purchases.

He did not specify how many officers would be involved in the operation but assured that everything would be done to ensure public safety.

Baez Aybar has also said that for the Christmas holidays, some 8,000 police agents who usually carry out administrative duties would be sent to patrol urban areas to increase safety.
