The administrative minister of the Presidency Jose Ramon Peralta says that as of January 2015 President Danilo Medina will be on the streets after his working hours, leading the campaign for his re-election.
Interviewed by Diario Libre, Peralta guaranteed that there would not be dissident groups within the ruling PLD party, which he said would work with unity as of January 2016 to promote the party’s presidential candidate, who he described as having solid popularity and many proposals to make. He announced that President Medina would be campaigning every day from 5pm.
He forecast Medina would win in a first round, be it with 55%, 60%, 65% or 70%.
He said that the Medina candidacy was in a comfortable first place ranking, but that party members would campaign as if he were in third place.
