Preparing for Christmas in the DR

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has announced that 34,823 brigade members will be on the streets to help people who are traveling across the country for the Christmas and New Year festivities.

COE director General Juan Manuel Mendez says that the operation, called “Living Together Safely with Values 2105-2016” will consist of two phases. The first begins at 2pm on 23 December 2015 and ends at 6pm on 25 December. The second phase will start on Wednesday 30 December at 2pm and end on Friday, 1 January at 6pm.

The brigades will be made up of COE staff as well as doctors, paramedics, military personnel, police, and search and rescue specialists.

The operation will be coordinated by the Ministers of the Presidency, Interior and Police, Public Health, Public Works, Defense as well as Civil Defense, 911 Emergency System, Police and the Metropolitan Transport Authority.
