Collecting garbage

The municipal government of Santo Domingo announced that new bills would be going out, as it aims to invoice residents of the capital for garbage collection. The onus of refuse collection in the past has been assumed by the central government. According to El Caribe newspaper, AAA Dominicana has been entrusted with the billing project and will collect a 25% commission for its efforts. The remaining funds will be funneled to the city government. The newspaper reports that residential fees will vary from RD$25 to RD$200 per month and commercial and industrial bills will range from RD$200 to RD$8,000 a month. The city government also hopes to obtain back-invoices, saying it will pardon 50% of what was owed at the time when the central government assumed garbage collection funding.
