Inmates to vote for first time

The Attorney General and the Central Electoral Board (JCE) have announced that they have cleared almost 7,000 inmates for voting in the 15 May 2016 general elections for the President and Vice President. The pilot program will take place at the 20 jails under the New Penitentiary Model where there are around 8,000 inmates. This is of a list of 21,000 inmates that were registered, validated and received their new IDs of the total of 24,750 inmates around the country.

The Attorney General still needs to confirm the final list.
