Puerto Rican authorities have detained two Dominicans who arrived in the country hidden in freight containers that came from the Dominican Republic.
One has been identified as 30-year old Oscar Guillermo Aquino Perez, and so far the second has not been named. The men arrived last week in a container on board the M/V Stadt Rotenberg that reached the port of San Juan from Rio Haina.
Aquino Perez appeared before a judge to hear charges read against him for fraud and for having tried to re-enter Puerto Rico after his previous deportation. He was found guilty and has to wait to be sentenced, which may include fines and a jail term of up to ten years. The other man had no previous record in Puerto Rico and will be repatriated to his native Dominican Republic.
