Samana will be hosting its first nude cruise when the Celebrity Constellation (6-16 February) docks offshore on 12 February on its Carnaval de Caribe-themed cruise.
On nudist cruises cruisers must wear clothes in the main dining room and specialty restaurants, but can remain unclothed anywhere else on the ship when not in port.
The cruise, which began on 6 February 2016 ends in Fort Lauderdale on 16 February, with stops in Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos and CocoCay in the Bahamas.
The Sun Sentinel of Fort Lauderdale reports that interest in “nakationing” has doubled since 2010, and nudist cruises are booming.
“Nudists attract nudists,” said Nancy Tiemann, president of Bare Necessities Tour & Travel Co. in Austin, Texas, who has arranged clothing-optional cruises for 25 years. “They’re laid back, friendly and unpretentious.”
