During an interview for Channel 11’s El Dia TV show yesterday Monday 22 February 2016, Education Minister Carlos Amarante Baret said that the Ministry has now paid all of the remaining money owed to engineers, architects and construction firms involved in building new schools and daycare centers, for a total of around RD$4.7 billion.
In a press release he said that given the volume, the funds would be paid into their accounts gradually and that RD$2.7 billion had already be paid but the rest would be in their bank accounts by the end of this month.
He added that once the payments had been made, several schools would be ready for inauguration by President Danilo Medina over the next few weeks.
