Another poll is now needed for the PLD to decide who will be the ruling party candidate for mayor in Santo Domingo East, the largest municipality in the country. The front-runner was late Mayor Juan de los Santos, who was tragically murdered by a disgruntled business associate on 15 December 2015. The two front-runners for the candidacy are Karen Ricardo and Alfredo Martinez, that received 32% and 30% in a recent poll.
