Dominican Republic takes over CELAC presidency

Minister for Foreign Affairs Andres Navarro says that the Dominican Republic will become the capital of Latin America and the Caribbean as it takes over the pro tempore presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac).

He said that the country would be organizing thematic meetings, ministerial meetings and meetings of foreign ministers, inter-regional forums and a summit of heads of state along with other high level gatherings.

He was speaking at the El Embajador Hotel in Santo Domingo yesterday, Tuesday 23 February 2016 when President Medina took over the presidency from Ecuador on behalf of the Dominican Republic for the year 2016.
