According to the National Police, an 18-month old German girl has died after drowning in a paddling pool in her garden in Las Galeras, in the northeastern province of Samana.
The child, Kailany Dolores Veras Sanchez was in a plastic paddling pool along with several other children at the time.
Her body has been sent to the National Institute of Forensic Science (INACIF) for autopsy.
