President Danilo Medina is expected to attend the VII Congreso Internacional de la Lengua Espanola (CILE) to be held at the Miguel de Cervantes Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico from 15-18 March 2016.
Real Academia Espanola (RAE) director Dario Villanueva made the announcement on Wednesday, 9 March 2016, when presenting the program for the congress. The Presidential press office has not confirmed Medina’s participation in the event.
The King and Queen of Spain are also expected to attend.
President Medina is currently campaigning for the May elections, and there are an estimated 25,692 registered Dominican voters in Puerto Rico.
The conference marks the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes on 22 April.
