Former President Leonel Fernandez has warned that if Republican party hopeful Donald Trump were chosen presidential candidate in the United States elections it would be a triumph for the dissidents inside the Republican Party and a victory for those who are anti-establishment and against the government of President Barack Obama.
He said that if Trump were a candidate it would be no more than a reflection of the anxiety and uncertainty that currently exists in the US and “of the racism and xenophobia that actually exists, the political polarization that dominates and as a consequence of a crisis of United States democracy”.
He made his view known in his column, Global Observatory that was published yesterday, Monday, 14 March 2016 in Vanguardia del Pueblo Digital in which he also referred to the paranoid nature of United States politicians and some aspects of Trump’s personality.
