An opinion poll carried out by CIES International has found a narrowing of the gap between the two presidential candidates, Danilo Medina and Luis Abinader.
The research shows that if the elections were held today, Danilo would obtain 47.85% of the votes and Abinader 40.6%. This would mean a second round of voting.
The poll was conducted between 17 and 20 March with a sample of 1,200 people.
Company president Andy Abreu said that the data showed that there was a good chance of a second round as the margin of error was 3%.
He said that they used the data to look at a subset for the National District that showed an improvement in Danilo Medina’s performance from 46% in the last poll to 49.2% in this one. Looking at the candidates there for mayor, Roberto Salcedo received 43.9% and David Collado 34.2%, with 21.9% undecided.
Among the candidates for Senator for the National District, Reynaldo Pared Perez had 32.3%, Vinicio Castillo Seman, 34.4% and Alberto Atallah 11.2%.
