Johnny Cueto wins starting game for Giants

On his opening night, Tuesday, 5 April 2016, Dominican baseball player Johnny Cueto delivered for the San Francisco Giants, pitching seven innings. In the game in Milwaukee against the Milwaukee Brewers, Cueto reportedly used his mix of improvisation and effervescence to deliver the 2-1 victory at the Miller Park. The media reported that with his pitchers, Cueto outsmarted the Milwaukee batters.

This was the first victory by a Dominican starting pitcher for the franchise since Sergio Valdez in September 1995. The media recalled the San Francisco Giants was the team for which Juan Marichal pitched his way to the Baseball Cooperstown Hall of Fame with Marichal’s 243 victories, all but five achieved as a Giant.
