The Ministry of Public Health has announced the resumption of talks with the Dominican Medical Association (CMD), which will be arbitrated by Universidad Catolica de Santo Domingo (UCSD) rector Father Jesus Marte Castro. The meetings will resume on Thursday, 14 April 2016 at 5pm at the university library.
Dr. Waldo Ariel Suero has ordered more than six public hospital strikes since becoming president of the CMD in December 2015. The CMD represents public hospital doctors, nurses, bio-analysts and other health sector workers who are demanding that the government assign 5% of the GDP to public health, which will enable wages to be increased by 60% and more staff to be appointed at hospitals.
