In a revised estimate for economic growth in the region, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) says that growth in the Dominican Republic will be 5.5%, surpassed in the region only by Panama with 6.2%. ECLAC says that overall, growth in the region will drop 0.5% in 2016.
