Three candidates for mayor face corruption cases

Diario Libre reports that three men who have been accused of corruption are running for mayor in the 15 May 2016 elections. They are the mayor of San Francisco de Macoris Felix Manuel Rodriguez Grullon, of La Romana Juan Antonio Adames Bautista, and Cabarete, Puerto Plata, Gabriel Antonio Mora Ramirez. Despite their cases being in court, they submitted their candidacies to the JCE and are seeking re-election.

Others with cases being heard in the judiciary include Raul Mondesi, mayor of San Cristobal, against whom the Administrative Corruption agency PEPCA is requesting an opening for the trial. Mondesi is running for a legislative post, which would give him legal immunity.
