New poll puts Danilo in lead

According to a new poll by Mark Penn and sponsored by the SIN media group, Danilo Medina would win the election with 62%, compared to Luis Abinader who would obtain 29% of the vote. The survey was carried out between 28 and 30 March 2016.

Guillermo Moreno would obtain 3% and Minou Tavarez Mirabal 1%. None of the other candidates achieved 1%, undecided voters total 4% and 1% said they would not be voting.

The results showed that Medina is stronger with women and young voters and Abinader has more support from men and older people.

93% of PLD sympathizers said they would vote for Medina and 95% of PRM sympathizers said they would vote for Abinader. When it comes to PRD sympathizers, 60% said they would vote for Medina and only 28% for Abinader. 56% of voters who do not sympathize with any particular party, which accounts for 37% of the electorate, said they would vote for Medina and 28% for Abinader.

Other March polls have also favored Medina, with the results as follows:

Gallup: Medina 60.3%, Abinader 30.6%

Greenberg: Medina 59%, Abinader 32%

Zogby: 49.1%, Abinader 44.3%

Benenson: 66%, Abinader 26%.
