The Ministry of Public Health is carrying out a campaign to vaccinate 532,000 children against polio. Public Health Minister Altagracia Guzman said that the country has made good progress on the prevention of diseases because not a single polio case has been registered in the past 15 years. She added that there have not been any neonatal tetanus cases in the past six years and the country has been measles-free for the past 10 years.
She said that the campaign would focus on vaccinations at primary schools and day care centers, combined with outreach work to raise awareness among parents.
