Alianza Pais Presidential candidate Guillermo Moreno says that the country should not be discussing the possibility of more taxes for workers and the middle classes until what he called the ruling PLD party’s “structure for corruption and political patronage” is dismantled. He said that the government plans for fiscal reform (= more taxes) could create a social and political crisis especially among the most vulnerable sectors that see how authorities constantly increases taxes to fund the deficits that the government causes with its many payrolls, slush funds and high wages for government officials. “Not even joking should there be talk of more taxes. Any debate on the topic has to happen when there is a honest government such as that proposed by Alianza Pais to eliminate the excess payroll and the corrupt structures designed by the PLD,” he said on the campaign trail in the National District yesterday, Sunday 17 April 2016.
