Albert Pujols, already an All-Star and a major league wunderkind, had a super day yesterday, hitting five-for-five including three homeruns and single-handedly dismantling a 7-1 Chicago advantage to carry his St Louis Cards to an 11-8 victory. Pujols said, ?This was a day I?ll never forget!? He joined Miguel Tejada (Baltimore Oriols), David Ortiz (Boston Redsox), Manny Ramirez (Boston Redsox) and Aramis Ramirez (Chicago Cubs) as part of yesterday?s display of homerun power. Pujols also joins a distinguished group of Dominican power hitters that have also hit three homers in one game. Headed by Sammy Sosa, who has done it five times, the list includes Manuel Jimenez (El Mulo), who was the first to do this in 1964 playing for the Kansas City team. Rico Carty, George Bell, Geronimo Berroa (twice), Manny Ramirez, Miguel Tejada (twice), Alex Rodriguez, Aramis Ramirez, Jose Ortiz, Carlos Pena and Moises Alou are the other illustrious figures to earn such recognition. The Pujols-inspired win placed the Cardinals ten games ahead of the Cubs in the National League Central Division.
