The Tax Agency (DGII) has announced that collections for March 2016 totaled RD$29.42 billion, which represents an increase of RD$5.08 billion over the same month last year, a growth of 20.9%.
Receipts for the first three months of this year now stand at RD$88,044.0 million, a 9.9% increase over last year.
However, the DGII says that although receipts were around the estimated level for the first trimester of the year, the price of certain basic products in the international market had had a negative effect.
Of the total sum collected, 76.5% came via the DGII, Customs’ duties contributed 19.3% and 4.2% came from the National Treasury.
