Despite announcements that singer Martha Heredia had been granted conditional release from jail, the media reported yesterday, Wednesday, 20 April 2016 that the judge in charge of her case, Ruben Dario Uceta has postponed his decision until 4 May 2016.
The proposed conditions would allow her to be released from Mondays to Fridays, but she would have to return to jail on Saturdays and Sundays. Martha Heredia shot to fame after winning the Latin American Idol reality TV show in 2009 with the support of tens of thousands of Dominicans who voted for her. On 20 February 2013, she was arrested and sentenced to seven years in jail after being found guilty of attempting to smuggle 1.3 kilos of heroin concealed in the heels of several of her packed shoes when traveling to the US from Cibao International Airport in Santiago.
