The photo has brought the breastfeeding taboo that still exists in the Dominican Republic to the forefront. Statistics show that fewer than 7% of mothers will breastfeed their children for the first six months, which pediatricians recommend as best for babies. According to the figures, most women who do breastfeed only do so for one month.
