On Friday, 6 May 2016 a Monte Plata court sentenced Winston Rizik to 10 years in jail for drug trafficking, asset laundering and illegal possession of firearms. The Attorney General had asked for 15 years in jail. Rizik’s brother, Nelson Rizik Delgado was instructed to report to a judge on a monthly basis for a period of five years and was banned from carrying firearms.
The court also seized two farms, firearms, and other assets.
Winston Rizik accused German Miranda Villalona, director of the Attorney General Office’s anti-asset laundering division of planting the drugs.
