With the sun shining again after the heavy rains, President Danilo Medina visited Santiago yesterday, Sunday, 7 May 2016.
Medina’s vehicle headed the campaign motorcade, followed by another vehicle carrying his candidate for Vice President Margarita Cedeno and her husband, former President Leonel Fernandez, who is the president of the ruling PLD party. Fernandez was the party’s strongest candidate until Medina pushed through a Constitutional change to enable him to run for re-election.
Diario Libre observes that Medina and Fernandez have yet to appear campaigning side by side.
