With a major show of force, the ruling PLD campaign motorcade took over eastern Santo Domingo yesterday, Thursday 12 May 2016 as President Danilo Medina and his wife Candida Montilla paraded for three hours through the city. The route went along the Ovando and Duarte avenues down to the closing on the Malecon. Former President Leonel Fernandez and his wife Margarita Cedeno, who is running as President Danilo’s vice president, also took part in the motorcade but in a separate vehicle. Candidate for mayor for the National District Roberto Salcedo, and the candidate for senator for the National District, Reinaldo Pared Perez also took part. Medina encouraged voters to mark the box 2 corresponding to the PLD on all the ballots n A for President, B for senator and C for mayor.
