Members of the Criminal Investigation Division (DICRIM) in Nigua, San Cristobal have recovered the money that was stolen from a bank in Puerto Plata on 3 May.
The money totaled RD$443,000 and US$201. According to investigators it was found in a bag in a house in Los Multi in Nigua, where it had been hidden by one of the suspected robbers, Luis Oscar Ramirez Medina (Misael).
The police also confiscated a Yamaha motorcycle that Ramirez Medina had bought with RD$17,000 of the stolen money.
The bank robbery was carried out by two armed men, disguised as security guards for transporting money and a third man waiting in a getaway vehicle, who escaped the scene.
According to the preliminary report the thieves got away with RD$5 million and US$43,500 and the police are asking the man on the run to give himself up.
